Product Overview

This air compression ignitor or fire syringe demonstrates how the compression of air increases temperature and pressure inside a cylinder. A small piece of cotton is placed in the cylinder. After being rapidly compressed, the cotton ball will ignite and force the cylinder back up. This wonderful demonstration tool vividly demonstrates the principles behind diesel engine operation. Includes 2 spare O-Rings, and a small piece of starter cotton. COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCLUDED.

**DON'T FORGET TO BUY REPLACEMENT O-RINGS (SEE RELATED ITEMS BOX BELOW).

    It broke within a week

Posted by Christopher Kipp on Oct 5th 2018

As I read in another review (I hoped mine would last longer) it broke within a week of purchasing with just normal usage. The shaft broke from the stand and a crack appeared in the chamber.

Lasted about 5 compressions then shattered

Posted by Todd VanSumeren on Apr 29th 2017

It was a good experience to learn that fire syringes should not be made from this material. The whole thing shattered after 5 tries. Seeing the ignition was great for my kids to help them understand the concept, but I just wish we could have gotten more use out of it. The kids didn't even get a try.
